Summary
As Technical Director on Opera Maker, an award-winning interactive app for children aged 8–11 that lets them compose and stage their own operas, I was responsible for the overall software architecture as well as two key technical pillars of the project. I designed and implemented the integration pipeline for externally produced animations, ensuring that assets created by third-party artists were seamlessly embedded into the app’s interactive stage environment. I also built the video export feature, allowing young users to save and share their creations — a functionality that became a defining part of the product experience. The app was shipped cross-platform for both desktop and mobile (iOS/iPadOS and macOS), which required careful architectural decisions to maintain consistent performance and UX across form factors. Opera Maker received multiple awards, including the TOMMI Kindersoftwarepreis 2015 and the Giga-Maus 2015, and was recognized by Apple as well as the “Ein Netz für Kinder” initiative.
