Summary

As co-creator of Happy Hockey, a local multiplayer arcade hockey game developed together with Johannes Kristmann during a game jam at the Saftladen collective in Berlin, I was responsible for the game design, technical implementation, and all aspects of local deployment and support. The game is a 2D top-down hockey experience built on the HappyFunTimes plugin, which allows players to join a session simply by connecting their smartphone to a local network and using it as a controller — no app download required. The result is a highly accessible, social party game supporting up to 100 simultaneous players, designed for public spaces and festival environments. Beyond development, I personally handled the physical installation of the game at festivals, setting up the local network infrastructure, hardware, and on-site support to ensure reliable play in demanding live environments. In 2016, Happy Hockey was selected for the TIFF DigiPlaySpace in Toronto, where it was presented to an international audience as part of one of North America’s most prominent interactive arts programs — a significant recognition for a project born out of a weekend game jam.
